Mission Statement: To provide a Christian based curriculum and safe environment that allows a student to move at his/her own pace and recieve individual instruction in a timely manner.
Homeschool Tutorial Academy is set up like a one room school house with a maximum of 10 students from grades 4th-12th. There is constant student/teacher interaction being all are in the same room. The school day is from 8:00 a.m to 1:40 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for the equivilant hours of 180 school days. The day opens with a prayer and a schedule in given to each student for the day. Current events are discussed as a group to make sure students are aware of what is going on in the world that day. As students work on their subject matter they ask for help as needed and the teacher gives individual instruction. Students can take breaks all through the day and have access to a full kitchen. They are to bring their own lunch and snacks from home. There is no set lunch time. That is up to each individual student. They may eat and drink at their desk. There are dogs and cats that wander in and out of the school at any given time often sleeping in students' laps. It is a very relaxed environment but work is finished and scored. The only homework is on the night before a test to study.

Field trips
Trips are planned throughout the year and are not required.
Socialization
Socialization is often a question asked of parents with a classroom of mixed grades and ages. Life friends are rarely all the same age. Once the majority of students leave a public school they no longer are surrounded by others all their own age. They start making friends with people of all different ages. Work and or college both have all different ages at all different levels. That is life. Students at Homeschool Tutorial Academy actually relate to all ages and olders accomodate youngers according to their needs. Every where trips have been taken the group has been very well complimented on behavior as well as manners.
Manners: Two R's are stressed strongly.
Who We Are
Mechelle at the Environmental Ecological Research Academy.18490047_std.jpg)
Mechelle Singletary, teacher/owner of Homeschool Tutorial Academy, has been teaching since 1985. She has a B.S. in Biology/Secondary Education and a M.Ed. in Middle Grades and has current teacher certification in the state of Georgia.
Mechelle taught public school for 5 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool her own children. While doing this, others kept telling her that they wish they could find someone to homeschool their children because they either could not afford to quit work or did not feel they could teach their own. She decided to teach others and started with two students around her kitchen table. The next year through word of mouth, she had 6 students and the next year she out grew her kitchen table with 11 and Homeschool Tutorial Academy was born!
She moved the school next door to a larger facility. There is a large open den/kitchen area with individual desks and fireplace. There is a media room, computer room and science room. It is surrounded by woods and animals. The perfect place for a home school.
